Tuesday, April 18, 2023-- Venture into the maze and take off with Mission Aerospace before it closes on Sunday, May 7th, at the Reading Public Museum. Explore flight, navigation, and the role of NASA in space exploration in this interactive exhibition. Integrating the science and history behind airplanes, helicopters, rockets, and many other air and spacecraft, Mission Aerospace is both educational and entertaining. Visitors will make paper airplanes and rockets, learning about aerodynamics and design, and test them for distance and air-dexterity in special “launch zones,” flying them to Beijing and Paris, or as far away as Mars and Saturn. Visitors will also learn how gyroscopes are used in navigation and explore the connections between satellites and GPS. Meteorite and tektite selections from The Museum’s permanent collection are also on display, enhancing the connection between RPM and outer space.
In this exhibition, visitors will encounter models and images of aircrafts from many eras, from the Grumman F4F Wildcat to the Bell-Boeing CV-22 Osprey, and answer challenge questions as they work their way through 2,500 square feet of maze. NASA’s vision for the future, including robotic exploration on Mars and trips aboard the International Space Station, will capture the dreams and imagination of budding aerospace engineers. After exploring Mission Aerospace, be sure to visit the Neag Planetarium to continue the skyward journey with RPM’s newest show, Dream to Fly!
Mission Aerospace is designed by Minotaur Mazes, and sponsored locally by the generosity of EnerSys and Penske.
