First Floor Science Gallery
Follow Hot Dog and Holly Horse to discover the science behind keeping people healthy. This exhibition will emphasize health issues that affect both people and animals including obesity prevention and asthma. Students, parents, and teachers will all enjoy the science behind the exhibit.
In Hot Dog’s Fitness Challenge, children and adults will learn about healthy food and fitness choices. They will explore how obesity can lead to other health concerns like diabetes and heart problems. At the end of the exhibit, visitors will be tested to see if they can survive Hot Dog’s fitness challenge which features steps, a punching bag, and much more!
Holly the horse suffers from asthma, which is also called “heaves” in horses. In this part of the exhibit visitors will discover how respiratory systems of people and animals work the same, how asthma can affect people and animals, how to avoid asthma triggers, and much more!
This exhibit, developed by animal and human health experts, emphasizes the science of living a healthy lifestyle with hands-on, problem solving modules that visitors of all ages will enjoy.
