Friday, April 21, 2023 – Celebrate the special women in your life at The Reading Public Museum on Mother’s Day, May 14! This memorable day will feature a variety of unique activities and programming from 11:00am to 5:00pm. The day’s activities will include crafting workshops for the young and young at heart, free children’s crafts, guided tours of The Museum’s Featured Exhibit Holly Trostle Brigham: Mothers, Sisters, and Daughters and public star shows in the Neag Planetarium. Spend time with the loved ones in your life by enjoying a picnic lunch in the Arboretum.
Program of Activities:
11:00-1:30 pm Figurine Painting Workshop – Guests will have the opportunity to paint specially selected figurines or flower pots to remember this special day! This workshop is designed for the whole family. Pre-registration is recommended for this event.
2:00-3:30 pm Paper Floral Wreath Workshop - Guests will learn to create long lasting paper flower wreaths inspired by the spring season. This workshop is perfect for anyone ages 12 and up! Pre-registration is recommended for this event.
Fearured Exhibition Guided Tours will be provided hourly beginning at 11:30 and will last approximately 30 minutes. The last tour will begin at 3:30. Guided tours are included with Museum Admission or Museum Membership and do not require pre-registration. Holly Trostle Brigham: Mothers, Sisters, and Daughters is an engaging exhibition that brings together Philadelphia artist Holly Trostle Brigham’s major works, including selections from several series, dating from the mid-1990s to the present. For the past three decades, Brigham has researched and interpreted the lives of women throughout time and has often used herself as the model. She draws her sources from mythology, art, religion, and theater.
Free hands on activity stations will be provided throughout The Museum and are perfect for all ages! These are also included with purchase of Museum Admission or Museum Membership.
Guests are encouraged to picnic on the grounds and may bring their own food or purchase a picnic lunch provided by Special Occasions by Panevino.
Public Star Shows will run on the hour between 1pm and 6pm. Please see our website for the full show schedule.

The Reading Public Museum is supported in part by grants from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts and is located at 500 Museum Road, Reading, PA. Admission per day is: $10 adults (18-64), $6 children/seniors/college students (w/ID), and free to Members and children three years old and under.
