Monday, February 12, 2024 -- The Reading Public Museum is proud to announce a recent visit from United States Representative Chrissy Houlahan. An Air Force veteran, engineer, entrepreneur, and educator, Chrissy Houlahan is continuing her career of service as the first woman to represent Pennsylvania's 6th District in Congress.Representative Houlahan’s visit presented a unique opportunity for The Museum’s staff and community to connect with a public servant and demonstrate the cultural richness and historical significance that the Reading Public Museum embodies. During a tour of the galleries on Thursday, February 8th, Representative Houlahan and her team had a chance to experience The Museum’s fascinating exhibitions and hear about its long and wonderful history.

Representative Houlahan and her team were given special tours of several exhibitions currently on display at The Museum, led by our experienced staff, including Nature All Around Us and Danny Lyon: Memories of the Southern Civil Rights Movement, both of which are on display now through May 12th. The group spent time exploring the exhibits and learning about the rich history and cultural significance of the works on display. It was a valuable opportunity for Representative Houlahan and her team to connect with their constituents and deepen their understanding of Reading’s heritage. Throughout the visit, they engaged in meaningful discussions with museum staff, furthering their commitment to supporting education and cultural initiatives in their district.

“The Reading Public Museum is a truly special place where anyone can explore the rich tapestry of our global and local history,” said U.S. Rep. Chrissy Houlahan. “It was so good to be back and bring my entire dedicated team. As we walked through the museum’s exhibits, including some that were recently unveiled, we were reminded of the importance of investing in cultural institutions that contribute to the intellectual curiosity of our community. I extend my gratitude to the Reading Public Museum for their tireless efforts in fostering a strong appreciation for the arts in the Berks region.”

The Museum would like to thank Representative Houlahan and her team for their visit. Looking ahead, RPM is poised for continued growth and impact within our community and beyond. Plans for upcoming exhibitions, educational programs, and events promise to build on the success of 2023 and further solidify The Museum's standing as a leading art and educational institution in Berks County.
