Pennsylvania German Gallery

This gallery features a rotating selection of 18th- and 19th-century fraktur (birth and baptismal certificates, house blessings, and marriage certificates) from a collection of over 200 rich and colorful examples; a John Rasmussen painting on zinc of the Berks County Almshouse; extraordinary painted dower (blanket) chests from Berks, Lancaster, and Lebanon counties, including one heavily decorated with a black unicorn motif; toleware; clocks and longrifles; reverse glass paintings; and an impressive array of Pennsylvania redware produced in Berks and the surrounding counties in southeastern Pennsylvania.
