On May 6 & 7, Museum staff joined motorcyclists from around the country at the Reading Fairgrounds for Harley Davidson’s Ride for Life, a fundraiser for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. The MDA is leading the fight against muscular dystrophy, ALS, and related neuromuscular diseases. Unfortunately, it was again a dreary weekend – we thought April showers brought May flowers, not the other way around! A few dedicated souls braved the chilly, wet weather to enjoy a variety of vendors, music, and food. There were even Frisbee and agility demonstrations by the Disc Dogs.
The Museum was there to promote its upcoming exhibition – Hands-On Harley-Davidson™, opening Saturday, September 23, 2017 with sponsorship from Classic Harley Davidson in Leesport, PA and Tompkins VIST Bank. The exhibit has two components – one for adults and a hands-on section for children. Visitors also heard about upcoming events such as Dogs & Brews and our upcoming summer exhibition – Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles™: Secrets of the Sewer.™ Most visitors were from out-of-town (there was even a 26 bike group that made the ride down from New Hampshire!).
RPM was honored to be a part of this great fundraiser for such a wonderful cause and is looking forward to working with Classic Harley Davidson on several fall events, including Night at The Museum on Saturday, September 23!
