With all that happens around here on a day-to-day basis, it can sometimes be difficult to make time to work on advancing in our field or attending professional development opportunities. It takes a lot of dedication and resolve to prioritize that kind of work, while simultaneously meeting all of the objectives required back here at The Museum. This week, we celebrate that kind of resolve…
Last Tuesday, Stephanie Hafer-Shaak spent the day in Lancaster taking her day-long exam to become a Certified Meeting Professional (CMP), a designation awarded to those in the meeting planning field who have demonstrated a top level of knowledge and experience. The exam is the last step in a multi-year process that included numerous meetings and seminars across the area, hours of study, and years of practical experience in planning and executing the types of events for which The Museum has become regionally known. Considering the success we’ve all witnessed with our rentals department since Stephanie created it several years ago, it comes as no surprise that she passed the exam with flying colors and is now certified through 2024!
According to the CMP website, the Certified Meeting Professional program was launched in 1985 to enhance the knowledge and performance of meeting professionals, promote the status and credibility of the meeting profession, and advance uniform standards of practice. Today, the CMP credential is recognized globally as the badge of excellence in the meeting, convention, exhibition, and event industry. The qualifications for certification are based on professional experience, education, and a rigorous exam, and Steph clearly possesses the qualities needed to achieve this certification. Congratulations to Steph on her achievement, although we all knew she was at the top of her field even without the three little letters after her title…but it looks cool to use them anyway!
