BUTTERFLIES
ALIVE!
at the Museum Greenhouse
July
3, 1999 through August 29, 1999
Continuing
its tradition as the premiere authority
on Butterflies in Berks County, the Reading
Public Museum will present a unique opportunity
to see butterflies in a natural environment.
The Museum greenhouse has been turned into
a floral butterfly paradise. Inside, visitors
will be able to see hundreds of butterflies
up close and personal. Butterflies Alive!
will open on Saturday, July 3 and remain
on exhibit through August 29, 1999. Admission
to Butterflies Alive! is $2 for
adults and $1 for children age 4-17. A Butterfly
Workshop will be conducted by Karl Gardner
in the Museum auditorium on July 3. Admission
to the workshop is $10 which includes a
Butterflies Alive! and a membership to the
Mengel Society. Gardner, who curated last
fall's revival of the Museum butterfly collection
is president of the Levi Mengel Natural
History Society. Special precautions have
been taken to protect the fragile and beautiful
specimens for this special viewing.
To
make your Butterflies Alive! experience
extra-special, you can choose a butterfly
from the Museum's holding tank and release
it into the show! The cost is $8 per butterfly.
