NOTICE
OF INTENT TO DEACCESSION - 1/25/08
Please
be advised that the objects listed are proposed for
deaccession.
Deaccessioning
is a recognized part of collections management to
facilitate the long-term improvement of the collection.
As the collections grow, some objects that were formerly
significant may become deteriorated, duplications,
or which no longer suit the Museum’s Mission,
and removal or culling of such objects from the collections
is a continual and routine process. Net proceeds derived
from the sale of a deaccessioned object/specimen shall
be placed in the Museum's Acquisitions Fund "for
acquisition only" and shall be used for the replenishment
of collections, consistent with the acquisition priorities
of the Museum.
